Please excuse the puffy face and crazy hair. These photo were taken around 9:00am after a long night of having a GREAT time.
Eleven of my closest friends and I went yurt camping in the woods. When we arrived we were in disbelief that this place was real. It has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It was so peaceful.
I woke early on my birthday and went around the camp and started cleaning up from the night before. Then I went into the kitchen yurt were I put on music and started washing dishes. My Jarod joined me about fifteen minutes later and made me one of his "Hermann" drinks (I would love to share this drink with you, but it is not mine to share.)
Slowly the rest of my friends joined us in the kitchen yurt to cook my birthday breakfast. After we ate we sat around chatting. Later, Erin came in and handed me a note and the note said...
I ran into the sleeping yurt. As I walk in I said "I hope its a chicken bag," but instead it was another note with a hint on it. There were a lot of little notes that took me to different places around camp until I was at the Elf Chapel. BTW-- one of the hints was to beet on a drum!!! I love my friends!
Once we all ran down the hill to the Elf Chapel-- I had everyone go up first and then I followed.
A CHICKEN BAG!!!!! I have wanted this bag for about two years now. Every time I see it, I tell Erin and Laurel that I want it, but I would never buy it for myself.
Inside the chicken bag were little notes from all my friends. Not just notes, but wishes. Each friend wrote me a wish. I started to read them myself, but I started crying and Jarod had to take over for me. Thank you Jarod!
This is my family and I love them with all my heart.
It was Saturday morning when my friend Dave gave me a call to see what I was doing. All of our friends went away for the weekend. Not even an hour later I am getting into Dave's truck and I said "all I want is a cheeseburger and beer." Dave gave me a smile and said "for breakfast?" It was only 10:00am and I was thinking about cheeseburgers and beer. With no idea what the day held for us, we set out to find me a cheeseburger.
We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge and we just kept going. We drove north up the 1 and pulled over every-now-and-then to take it all in. I am not sure where we were in the above photo, but it was one of the most beautiful places. We sat up on this cliff and had a little picnic with beer and organic gold fish's.
Dave is one of my best friends and we share a lot of stuff with each other. I have not seen him since before I left for NYC. It was nice to spend the day with him catching up. We talked about life and the things that we would love to do. We talk about relationship and help each other get over some hard times and decisions. This road trip was special to me and very much needed.
Thank you Dave for being such a great friend.
This past weekend I went to summer camp. I never went to summer camp as a kid and even though I was not there for summer camp, but for a wedding I am guessing this is what summer camp would feel like. My very good friends J&N got married at a real summer camp!!! We stayed in cabins, sang around a campfire, danced until the sun came up, laughed and had the best time. I am so lucky to have the friends I have and my heart is filled with love.
For their wedding shower we were asked to make album page and because I love art journaling, I decided to go that route. For about 2 weeks, I researched love songs and bugged my friends about love songs they liked. My plan was to make them a mixed tape of love songs and somehow hid it on the album page. I wanted both sides of the album page to represent love and somehow have a feel that was J&N. If you ever get a chance to meet these two lovely people, you will see from the start how much they love one another.
For the front side, I went with the theme “SEA” because I had this lovely photo of them on their boat. One of my favorite songs by Tom Waits (I know that he is not the original writer if this song) is “Sea of Love.” There is something so beautiful about this song with his voice.
Come with me my love
To the sea
The sea of love
I want to tell you
How much I love you
Do you remember
When we met?
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you
How much I love you
For the backside, I went with the theme “dance” because I was making them a mixed tape and I came across this “Bella” by Angus and Julia Stone. I was so excited that they had a photo dancing because it fit so perfect with the theme if this page.
So you took her hand and she gave a look that sent you to the moon
And there you spoke the words of a gentleman
Can I have this dance with you
Can I share this dance with you
