Wedding Album// Gift to J&N

This past weekend I went to summer camp. I never went to summer camp as a kid and even though I was not there for summer camp, but for a wedding I am guessing this is what summer camp would feel like. My very good friends J&N got married at a real summer camp!!! We stayed in cabins, sang around a campfire, danced until the sun came up, laughed and had the best time.  I am so lucky to have the friends I have and my heart is filled with love.

For their wedding shower we were asked to make album page and because I love art journaling, I decided to go that route. For about 2 weeks, I researched love songs and bugged my friends about love songs they liked. My plan was to make them a mixed tape of love songs and somehow hid it on the album page. I wanted both sides of the album page to represent love and somehow have a feel that was J&N. If you ever get a chance to meet these two lovely people, you will see from the start how much they love one another.

For the front side, I went with the theme “SEA” because I had this lovely photo of them on their boat. One of my favorite songs by Tom Waits (I know that he is not the original writer if this song) is “Sea of Love.” There is something so beautiful about this song with his voice.

For the backside, I went with the theme “dance” because I was making them a mixed tape and I came across this “Bella” by Angus and Julia Stone. I was so excited that they had a photo dancing because it fit so perfect with the theme if this page.

Lock & Key: Bookworm

Yesterday was the first day in months that I made an art journal page. It felt good to get back into something that I love doing. I went through a faze where I thought I was too old to art journal. HA! I got over that and decided that if I love doing it then I am going to do it. I hope that I can bring you beautiful pages every week like the one I used to do.

I was going through my box of pretty paper, I found this lovely image of a girl holding a book, and I knew I wanted to make a page about books I want to read. Back in January, I made a list of  books that I wanted to read this year and since then I have added a few more. For the past couple of years I have not read as much as I would like to and I wanted to challenge myself this year to read at least 12 books. So far, I have read four this year and I feel good about that!

Journaling

I love journaling. I love taking a blank page and making it the holder of my thoughts. I am not the type to sit down and write page after page about my feelings, I just do not have it in me. I read this blog post yesterday and I realized I liked her way of journaling. I thought it would be cool to try it.  She has no real rules when it comes to her journal and I like that.  In her blog post, she breaks down journaling into many different levels and you can choose where you want to start. I got a new journal yesterday (see photo above) at lunch that was on sale, but I can already tell you that I do not like it :( I have always loved Moleskins and I knew I should have waited to buy a new one.  I know that I am going to end up getting a new Moleskin and I will use this journal as my sewing journal.

♥You need a journal that you love because that will make you love journaling.
♥You need a good pen.
♥You need to set aside time everyday to journal.
♥You need to remember this is your journal and you can use it anyway, you like.
♥You MIGHT want a nice beverage.
♥You MIGHT want a good playlist.

This is my new journey into journaling and I super excited. I will still art journal every week and share my pages on my blog, but I also need a little more that art journaling does not give me.

At lunch, I went to the art store and bought myself a new sketchbook for art journaling. I have taken a few months off because after doing my last art journal class I felt burnt out.

Side note: As of right now, I will not be teaching another art journal class.

I am excited about starting a new journal during the New Year. I think that this year I want to keep an art journal for every season. Once a season is over no matter if the journal is full, I will start a new one.

I will be back tomorrow with the first three pages from NEW journal.
